A US poll revealed that 75% of Americans between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five believe in the existence of angels.

There are so many documented cases of angelic encounters. Jodi Leary’s young boy nearly drowned in a swimming pool. After resuscitation, he reported having seen an angel. Estal Vera was hit by an ice cream truck only to see an angel appear by her side. Despite her serious injuries, she experienced no pain.

We have access to such incredible sources of information, healing, love, and support. Some time ago, I jokingly asked spirit during a meditation whether we really do have access to everything. The answer that I received was “yes, try it”. So… I laughed and responded “ok, as I am doing some creative work next week, I would like Leonardo da Vinci’s input…” That very evening, my cousin Kate came home from shopping. Can you imagine what she said? “I know that this is really random, but I was in a kid’s store and decided to buy you this really cute toy of Leonardo da Vinci.”

These short stories are great reminders of the presence of angels and guides and how we can call upon them at times of need, reassurance, and inspiration. We are never alone in life…

I learned from a great documentary that 4% of US military pilots have been responsible for 40% of successful missions since the first world war. So how is that these “super pilots” have uncannily accurate powers of precognitive awareness? The air force call it “Exceptional Situational Awareness”. I call it “Extra Sensory Perception”…

Doctor Dean Radin has proven our ability to sense the future by testing emotional response to pictures. When emotional pictures were shown in his experiments, the subject experienced an increase in skin conductance. When calm pictures were shown, skin conductance decreased. In his study, Dr. Radin proved that skin conductance increases in anticipation of emotional images four seconds before they are shown, proving that we are able to sense the future.

For those of you who think that precognition is only of interest to a narrow group, here is a quote from Doctor Radin’s book “The Conscious Universe” demonstrating just how much businesses have become engaged in extra sensory perception:

“In the 1970s, Douglas Dean and John Mihalasky, two scientists from the Newark College of Engineering, investigated the hypothesis that successful business executives sometimes benefit from precognition. In a computer based precognition experiment, they tested dozens of corporate executives and found significant evidence for precognitive abilities among them. The more successful the executives, in terms of profits attributed to their efforts, the more evident were their precognitive skills.”

“We have already mentioned SONY’s interest in psi, reflecting, we believe, a greater societal openness toward psi in the eastern world. SONY is not an isolated case. According to an article in the Asian Wall Street Weekly, in 1985 the Japanese Government’s Science & Technology Agency decided to study man’s spiritual activities in its Creative Science and Technology Promotion Program. Tadshiro Sakimoto, president of NEC corporation, said in this article “The study of the sixth sense and telepathy will certainly prove a cornerstone of future modes of communications.”

I really enjoyed the Quantumatters Blogtalkradio show on Saturday 24th July. We received such great evidence from the spirit world, specifically from our callers’ loved ones. It was so moving to hear Anna’s parents confirm that they do hear her when she speaks to them in front of her silver framed photograph. Moments of evidence and comfort like this are priceless.

We are conditioned from birth to believe that our world is material and we base too much upon this assumption. We presume that we exist here on earth, but that heaven is so far away. However, our loved ones are so close that they can hear us speak to them and even support us in times of difficulty or challenge.

I am a huge fan of the documentary “What the bleep do we know?” because it provides so much insight into how the Universe works and quantum physics. You might now be wondering why a psychic medium is interested in quantum physics and what on earth the connection could be? So, here is the beginning of my explanation…

In previous blogs, I mentioned cases of identical twins who were able to sense each other’s emotional states when separated by great distances. Similarly, a dog can sense when its owner is coming home. These are examples of a phenomenon known as “nonlocality”. Quantum physicists have proven beyond doubt that nonlocality exists through an effect known as entanglement. Two quantum particles can remain in contact with each other regardless of distance. They can become correlated with each other such that their fate is forever intertwined.

Deepak Chopra once commented that we are constantly inhaling and exhaling particles. In other words, we are constantly in exchange with each other. Does this mean that we are all interconnected and does the quantum mechanics concept of entanglement begin to explain psychic connection and potentially mediumship?

Each time I leave home for a business trip, I am fascinated to observe that my cats somehow detect my departure even before preparation of my suitcase. Animals have a sixth sense, just like we do, and deploy much greater perceptive capability than we presume. Video recordings have proven that dogs often become much more active at home when they sense that their master is returning. Many animals have perceptive powers and senses that far exceed the accepted senses of humans.

On my return flight to the USA, I watched a fabulous BBC documentary entitled “The Supernatural Powers of Animals”. This groundbreaking piece of work documents the exceptional perception of different species. The narrator states that “the powers of animals are as extraordinary as any human mysteries such as the Bermuda triangle.” The program features sharks that smell blood from over a kilometer away. Apparently, even blood bleeds electricity three meters into water. Sharks can detect one five billionth of a volt.

King parrots detect ultraviolet rays deployed to find food and mating partners. Cotton plants emit chemical communication to wasps when attacked by caterpillars. Plants are so sensitive that the caring attention of human touch is proven to trigger growth. Elephants can hear each other from ten kilometers away. Perhaps my favorite is the dolphin that can perceive our internal organs using sonar and even detect the heartbeat of an unborn child. The BBC documentary explains that this is perhaps why dolphins are known to locate shipwreck victims and are particularly drawn to pregnant women. Doesn’t it make you pause to consider just how sensitive we are and how much one might detect using extra sensory perception?

Many scientists are working to prove extra sensory perception in humans and I am certain that it is only a matter of time before our experiences of ESP will be corroborated beyond doubt. I believe that the existence of mediumship, whilst proven by mediums around the world for centuries, will also enjoy greater scientific research and evidence this century. The revelations of “The Supernatural Powers of Animals” fuel my certitude that scientists will confirm the validity of our psychic and mediumistic experiences. Exciting times…

If you are reading this blog, you are probably already convinced that there is much more to this world than what we perceive with the five senses. There are also some fantastic scientists who study paranormal phenomena and confirm the existence of extra sensory perception. Dean Radin is a great example and I thoroughly recommend his books.

Russian scientists have taken the study of the so-called ‘paranormal’ very seriously. In fact, the KGB invested significant amounts of time and resource into the investigation of paranormal phenomena. You may recall my recent blog on telekinesis in which I included a short video clip about Nina Kulagina who was able to move objects at will with nothing more than the power of her mind.

Even Stalin was interested in psychic phenomena and mind control. He actually challenged one of the Soviet Union’s top psychics (Wolf Messing) to rob a bank with nothing more than the use of his psychic abilities. Messing handed a bank teller a blank slip of paper and walked away with 100,000 rubles having psychically convinced the bank employee that it was a valid transaction. We still don’t know the full extent to which Stalin leveraged Messing’s psychic capability as most information is locked away in Soviet archives…

Secret KGB files reveal just how far the Soviet Union was going to explore the paranormal and its application to warfare. After the fall of the Berlin wall, the US and the Soviet Union became involved in the cold war which was characterized by increasing nuclear arsenals and technological advancements. Espionage was critical in this war without battlefields and the Soviet Union expanded its strategy to the realms of the paranormal. Members of staff at the American embassy began to suffer from strange illnesses and an unusually large number developed cancer. In response, the CIA launched project Pandora to investigate the occurrence of these strange illnesses in Moscow’s American embassy. They discovered that the Soviets were directing microwave energy at embassy staff as a method of mind control which resulted in profound physical effects.

There have also been suggestions that the KGB used mind control techniques to prevent the defeat of Karpov, the Soviet Union’s champion chess player in a match with the Soviet defector Korchnoi. Karpov’s competitor actually complained during the competition that members of the audience were trying to program his mind. Unlocking the paranormal was seen as the Soviet key to winning the cold war and KGB research continued…

American intelligence services became very much aware of paranormal activity behind the iron curtain and began to invest more heavily in research. Even cosmonauts began to receive training in telepathic communication.

Edgar Mitchell was tasked with sending psychic messages from the moon to psychic receivers on earth. His accuracy was astounding. In early 1973, Mitchell founded the nonprofit Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) to conduct and sponsor research into areas such as consciousness and psychic events.

On a number of occasions, I have experienced trance mediumship. This is a form of mediumship in which the medium allows spirit to overshadow their consciousness. In other words, the medium almost steps aside so that spirit may speak directly or, in the case of full physical mediumship, manifest physically using ectoplasm. You probably recall my recent blog about Helen Duncan who was one of the finest ever physical mediums. Nowadays, full physical manifestation of spirit seems quite rare, but I am excited to learn more about the trance state.

When I enter trance, I meditate visualizing myself falling downwards – it is a very freeing and intense experience. As I fall into my meditation, I can feel the speed at which I descend continuously increasing. When spirit draw close, I can feel myself stepping out of my body. For some reason, I always step to the left – I still feel in control of my consciousness, but step aside giving the use of my body to spirit. When I do this, I can feel my guides standing very closely to ensure my wellbeing. As spirit draw closer, I can somehow feel my face and hands change – it feels like a gentle metamorphosis as facial features transform to resemble those of the spirit person wishing to communicate. After a short while, the spirit person may speak using my vocal chords. It really is a wonderful experience during which one feels completely connected to spirit and honored to allow another to communicate so clearly. I would describe it as a sharing of mental and physical energy. My voice sounds different as the spirit communicates information which is often philosophical in nature. At some point, I will record some trance channeling and share it via the website. I don’t suggest that you try trance mediumship without the assistance of an expert or some training. For those of you who are interested, Arthur Findlay College (the world’s foremost college for the advancement of spiritualism and psychic studies) does offer tuition in trance mediumship.

Trance mediumship is an altered state of consciousness. As I am always on a quest to understand any scientific evidence supporting mediumship, I read yesterday about altered states of consciousness and learned that different sounds can change our brain state. There are four brains states:

Beta – Wide awake with a sharp and focused mind.
Alpha – Truly relaxed state inducing an expansion of awareness.
Theta – Deep state of relaxation which is almost sleep-like. In this state, the mind often expands beyond the physical boundaries of the body.
Delta – Sleep, healing and detached awareness.

A great friend of mine sent me a fascinating You Tube clip about consciousness research at the Monroe Institute. In out of body experiments, sound and sensory deprivation enable the experimenter to reach an altered state of consciousness by combining two different tones which create a third. This is known as binaural beating – it alters our state of consciousness and can be measured by EEG. Check out the short You Tube video clip below to see an example of an individual entering an altered stated of consciousness which enabled her to have an out of body experience. I have also included an example of alpha binaural beats.

You may now be thinking to yourself “well, this is very interesting, but what does it mean to me?” I chose to focus this blog on trance mediumship and altered states of consciousness because both demonstrate that we have access to huge sources of inspiration, information and guidance from the spirit world. We all have a unique combination of talents and capabilities, but also have access to a vast array of support, love and knowledge from our loved ones in spirit as well as countless guides, sages and experts. When you are in a relaxed state, take a moment to simply ask spirit to help you see the way forward in your life, or to share information that will help you on your pathway. I honestly believe that we have access to an abundance of knowledge and support that we can leverage to make the world a better place for ourselves and others.

Travelling this week in France, I decided to read about reincarnation. I learned that there are a lot of documented cases of people who recall previous lives. In particular, many children have astonishingly evidential memories of previous incarnations. Here is a great extract from “Children Who Have Lived Before” by Trutz Hardo:

“We do have a report from Copenhagen of a girl called Luna Marconi who can remember a past life. The three year old told her parents “I want to go home”. When asked where home was, she told them that it was in the Philippines. Her parents were very surprised that she knew of this country, since they had never told her about it and could not think how she could have come by this name. Several days later, she again expressed a wish to go home. She said that her name was Maria Espina, that her father owned a restaurant and that her home was on highway 54, not far from the Church of Christ. When asked more about her alleged life in the Philippines, she said that she often loved to eat bocan. She also described various festivals and ceremonies in great detail. Sometimes she would start to dance, humming a tune that was completely unfamiliar to her parents. One day, she talked about President Diosdado Macapagal visiting her village. In honor of this special occasion, she wore new shoes and presented the President with a bunch of red flowers.”

“Having heard of the little girl’s claims, some newspaper reporters travelled to the Philippines. They found a sweet made of coconut called bocan. They even found the Church of Christ on highway 54. Not far from the church was a restaurant belonging to Yves Espina and his wife. They really did have a daughter named Maria who died of fever at the age of 12. They also confirmed that she had been bought a new pair of shoes for the President’s visit.”

As well as the story of Maria Espina, I learned about Jenny Cockell who regularly dreamt about a woman in Ireland that died in hospital shortly after the birth of her sixth child. She believed these were memories of a past life and felt guilty that she had “abandoned” her children. As an adult, Jenny decided to research the possibility of this past life. This led her to Malahide, Ireland, where she found that her memories matched the details of the life of a woman known as Mary Sutton.

A number of years ago, I had a terrible mountain biking accident in which I was very badly injured. I remember feeling exhausted due to blood loss. When the paramedics arrived, my energy was so low and the pain so intense that I just wanted to drift away. They were yelling at me not to close my eyes, but to hang on and stay awake. Unable to keep my eyes open, I found myself traveling at great speed through a white tunnel that many people describe after near death experiences. Coming out of the tunnel, I felt such an incredible sense of peace and love – a feeling of wholeness, perfection, and compassion that words just cannot describe. My grandmother and grandfathers surrounded me along with spirit guides, all flooding me with unconditional love. They offered me the choice to stay or return to my lifetime. I recall explaining that I needed to return because I had work to do. As soon as I had made my decision, I found myself lying on the ground with the paramedics shouting at me not to close my eyes again, but to fight the fatigue and pain.

Prior to her passing, my grandmother woke for a moment and explained to my mother and aunt that she could see my grandfather and other members of her family in the room. Shortly afterwards, she passed to spirit. I feel very fortunate to have experienced the sense of absolute comfort, love and unconditional support that our loved ones experience when they move on to pastures new. Similarly to my grandmother, Albert Best (a great medium) stirred just before his passing explaining to his friends that his wife and children, all of whom he lost whilst serving abroad in the second world war, were in the room and had come to take him. Here is a quote from Rosalind Cattanach’s book about Albert “Best of Both Worlds”.

“I focused my gaze on Albert. He opened his eyes, turned his head to Jim and smiled. He looked up at Ann and tried to speak. None of us could make out what he had tried to say. However, he repeated the statement and we understood. He said “my wife is here with the children.” His eyes turned to the foot of the bed and opened wide. He smiled and lifted his head. His smile became brighter. Albert was transfixed as he spoke his last words: “They’ve come. You will have to let me go.”

Last weekend, I gave a reading throughout which doors opened and closed as spirit gave confirmation of evidence provided to the client. This experience renewed my interest in how spirit is able to displace physical objects. Psychokinesis (also known as telekinesis) is derived from the Greek words “psyche” meaning mind and “kinesis”, meaning movement. The term literally means “to move a physical object with the mind.”

Nina Kulagina is one of the most prominent telekinetic mediums of all time. Her psychic ability was captured on film during the Soviet Union era and smuggled outside the country. Kulagina was able to move objects at will with nothing more than the power of her mind. This extraordinary capability intrigued the KGB who were interested in the potential destruction of enemy forces through psychokinesis. During scientific experiments, Kulagina experienced pain in her spine and increased blood pressure due to dramatically heightened electromagnetic energy emitted from her hands. In one groundbreaking parapsychological experiment on March 10th 1970, she succeeded in raising and lowering the speed of a frog’s heart, proving that it is possible to affect the bioelectrical impulses of living tissues.

While of a different nature, the work of Dr. Masaru Emoto is also fascinating. In his first book, The Hidden Messages in Water, he describes his discovery that crystals formed in frozen water revealed changes when specific, concentrated thoughts were directed toward them. He also found that water from clear springs or water exposed to loving words showed brilliant, complex and colourful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thought formed incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors. Given that the human body is 70% water, it makes you wonder about the power and impact of our thoughts …

Helen Duncan was an exceptionally gifted medium that could produce ectoplasmic physical manifestations of spirit people in trance state. Helen’s spirit guide Albert would talk to sitters before spirits began to physically manifest themselves to their loved ones during the séances. Sid, the spirit of a second world war sailor, manifested himself wearing a cap labeled ‘HMS Barham’, stating to his mother that the ship had been destroyed by a German submarine torpedo. Until Sid’s revelation, the destruction of this strategic warship had been kept a closely guarded secret. In fact, the authorities did not announce the tragedy until three months after it occurred.
